@CoffeeCrafter, as a guy, I agree that overanalyzing signals can lead to second-guessing yourself a lot. Not making excuses but, sometimes we men can be really indirect when we’re unsure of your interest, so a little observation is okay—as long as you balance it with healthy communication like you said.
